The Arctic Wildlife Refuge Post FISA w/poll
Mon Jun 23, 2008 at 01:26:16 PM PDT
This morning's San Francisco Chronicle has an article entitled "Oil Drilling Question Looms as Election Issue" with predictable GOP talking points:
"Between now and election day, you're going to see Republicans on Capitol Hill pushing Democrats to have votes in the House and Senate on having more American-made energy," House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, said last week. "Let's let the American people see who's for more American-made energy and who isn't."
Reading this, I smugly thought to myself: "Ha! A Democratic Congress will never pass drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in an election year."
And then I remembered FISA.
McCain Scores a ZERO on the Environment
Thu Feb 21, 2008 at 01:27:37 PM PDT
John McCain has several lines in his stump speech where he waxes poetic on the importance of curbing global climate change. His rhetoric soars with a line something like: "If we work to slow greenhouse gas emissions, and stop warming, our grandchildren will thank us for our foresight... But even if we are ultimately wrong about warming, they will still thank us for protecting our environment. So, when I am President I will institute meaningful measures to protect our earth." Or some such bleck.
Well, it should come as no surprise that Mr. McCain is, in fact, no friend of the environment. The Sierra Club and the League of Conservation Voters just released Mr. McCain's environmental scorecard. Wait for it: ZERO, ZIP, NADA points for protecting the environment.
Let's play: Pick the Cabinet, 08 Ed.

Ok, so it's a bit early for pondering the various choices for cabinet posts in the upcoming, goes without saying, Democratic adminstration. However, I cannot be the only one around here whose grown bored with playing My Candidate Is Better Than Yours, and its sister sport, Your Candidate Sucks.
So join me in a first round of Pick the Cabinet. It is fun, competitive and can be played virtually anywhere. In this first set, the idea is to start floating plausible names that will likely rise to the top no matter who becomes the nominee (unless you're a Gravel Gal). Once we pick a nominee, I will deal another hand of Pick the Cabinet, and then more rounds as election and inauguration days near. Last round, I will award prizes to those who come closest to correctly filling all 16 slots. Team work is encouraged. Here we go...
